Soybeans started to be grown commercially in the United States, a country which along with Brazil is the largest producer in the world. Only in 1914, in the municipality of Santa Rosa, in Rio Grande do Sul, the first cultivation was ed in Brazil.
However, since then, much has changed. Currently soybeans are the main Brazilian agribusiness crop being produced, mostly in the states of Parana, Rio Grande do Sul and Mato Grosso, being responsible for about 65% of Brazilian production.
Even occupying the position of second largest producer, Brazil has the greatest potential for expansion in cultivated areas, and may, depending on market consumption needs, more than double the production.
